Greetings! My name is Roslyn Phelan and I am a Professional Organizer
and the owner of It's Time to Organize.
While in my search
for constant clutter control from everyday living in my own house,
I realized this is what I enjoy and am good at. I have always
had a keen sense of
order and enjoy helping others achieve the same basic need to be able to function
in such a busy society.
I believe
there is potential for virtually any space. There are just firm decisions that
need to be made. Sometimes that can be the most
difficult task if you aren't asking
the right questions. That's where the Professional Organizing courses I have taken
through the
National Association of Professional Organizing (NAPO) have
really helped develop my skills as a Professional Organizer for Residential
and Small Businesses.
What brought all of my skills into perspective was while I was a volunteer as Leadership for
a Scout group. I was handed a crate with books as my only reference. Needless to say, I felt helpless and I definitely
had work to do. Over 4 years as Leadership, I took the information and created a filing system. That way the next person
to take the job would be able to immediately feel in control and able to start right where I left off.
My son, who is the light
of my life, has Special Needs that challenge his abilities, which has given me first hand experience with organizing
in specialized backgrounds while keeping it functional for the person the system should be working for.
I think the Chinese proverb
sums it up well: "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life."
I believe that teaching you how to organize and transferring that knowledge to you is teaching you how to fish.
